Cathedral Women
Cathedral Women (ECW) of St. Peter's carries on the tradition of supporting the missions of St. Peter's, supporting the ECW of the Diocese of Southwest Florida, and giving all women of St. Peter's an opportunity to be involved.
All women of the Cathedral are welcome!
Put this on the calendar now:
Oktoberfest 2012 will be Saturday, October 13.
We'll have a Kids' Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and an adult dinner with live entertainment starting at 6:30 p.m., plus our fund-raising sign-ups for Harvest Gatherings (parties and events sponsored by parishioners). Watch for details throughout the summer.
The next ECW meeting is
from 5:30 to 7 on Tuesday, May 8
. All women of the church are welcome. Bring your ideas and hear what we have planned!
Proceeds from last fall's Oktoberfest have now been allocated. The recipients are:
* Diocesan ECW, $1,000
* Table at the annual Resurrection House breakfast, $400
* Continued support of Karen Carroll, missioner in the Dominican Republic, $2,500
* Community outreach to Family Promise, $1,000
* Vacation Bible School in the Dominican Republic, $500
* Episcopal Charities in memory of Mary Ellen Smith, $250
* Sponsorship of the youth mission to the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota
*Freewill offerings from the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper and the Maundy Thursday agape dinner totaled $576, which has been sent to the Church Periodical Club.
Under our umbrella:
Sisters. An informal groups offering support to women. Offered each Tuesday evening at 7:00pm.
United Thank Offering
. This worthwhile national charity is supported locally by each Episcopal church's ECW. Grants are available.
Church Periodical Club
. This national charity provides books and periodicals to a wide range of needy areas. and is supported locally by each Episcopal church's ECW. Grants are available.
Sara Howell Memorial Fund
. This Diocesan fund was established to help women entering or re-entering the workforce. Grants are available.
