Cathedral Greeters
We would love for you to be a part of the greeters ministry!
Want to get to know more people in the church, meet new people, help people? Are you able to volunteer and be on a rotating schedule that is also flexible to your life? Then the greeting ministry is the perfect place for you.
Why Do We Need Greeters?
Imagine that you are going someplace for the first time. You’re probably not sure where you’re going, where you should park, how to get into the building, or what to do once you’re inside. What you notice are a lot of people standing around talking animatedly to one another, obviously friends or at least acquaintenances. What is no one talks to you or even lets you know what to do next? What if these people just glance at you and then return to their conversations. You’d feel like an unwanted intruder in a place to which you might not belong, unsure of yourself and quite anxious. The Cathedral is a welcoming place. This is God’s house and every person is family–our brother and sister in Christ.
Remember this: a visitor forms his/her first impression of our church within 5 minutes (or less)
of walking through the front door.
Just Say Hello!
“Hello” is a greeting. Saying hello is a way of welcoming another person, of acknowleding the presence of another person and a way to show immediate friendship.
Being a Cathedral greeter is fun! And a great way to serve and participate in church. Greeting everyone with a “hello!” will help you meet and learn the names of many people! Saying “hello!” has a warming domino effect. If saying “hello!” makes you feel good, it will make your recipient feel good, who in turn will make others feel good…it doesn’t get much better than this!
Be a Cathedral Greeter!
It could not be easier. All you have to do is talk to one of our greeters on Sunday or contact the Greeter Coordinator and say, “I want to be a greeter.” There are plenty of Sunday dates open for greeting spots.
Our Greeter Coordinator is David Coleman: (727) 363-4113, mcoleman5@verizon.net
