Peterborough Apartments
Peterborough Apartments, Inc., a not-for-profit Florida corporation, is the owner and developer of Peterborough Apartments,. The project was funded in 1979 as a partnership between The Cathedral Church of St. Peter and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Located at 440 4th Avenue North, just blocks from the Cathedral, there are 10 apartments on 14 floors with common rooms (library, gift shop, offices, meeting room) on the first floor.
The Cathedral supplied the land while HUD built the facility, and continues to provide rental assistance to the elderly and handicapped residents.
The Cathedral Chapter appoints a Board of Trustees (required to be members of the Cathedral) who are delegated the authority for the operation of the facility. The Board contracts with a management company for daily operations.
On-site staff include service coordinators who are responsible for assuring that elderly residents and residents with mobility impairment are linked to supportive community services they need to continue living independently.
