The Cathedral organ contains 61 ranks (or sets) of pipes plus 27 digital ranks for a total of 88 ranks. The new organ console of four manuals, or keyboards, controls the 3,871 pipes of the instrument, distributed over seven divisions. The pipes range in size from 16 feet long (laid horizontally beneath the Great organ), to pipes smaller than a pencil.
