Music Department

“The aim is to create an all-inclusive music program, catering to all types of
musicians and listeners from the
amateur right through to the
seasoned professional, to encompass the whole
city of
St Petersburg, the State of Florida and beyond!"

The Music Program at the Cathedral Church of St Peter, St Petersburg is one of the most comprehensive , innovative and exciting in the United States.  There is some sort of music happening in the Cathedral almost every day, combining instrumentalists, choirs and solo singers in all types of sacred as well as secular music. Since the Fall of 2007, the Cathedral has been one of only four major churches and cathedrals across the entire US nation to sing the daily office of Evensong through the week in addition to staging one of the most ambitious Arts Program in this country.  For more information please see below.

Rick Waterman is Assisting Organist at the Cathedral where he is involved in assisting the Director of Music and Organ Scholar with the directing, accompanying and training of all the Cathedral Choirs and other musicians in preparation for the daily sung services and the extensive flourishing arts program, as well as managing and directing the Bell Choir.  A graduate of Westminster Choir College and North Texas State University, Rick brings many years experience to the Music Department having held positions in New York, Texas and Pennsylvania.
